The Somerset Association of Primary Head Teachers and Officers (SAPHTO) represents all 224 Primary Heads in the County and works closely with the Local Authority, particularly the newly formed Children's Services. The aims of the Association are:

1) to enhance and develop the educational provision and experience for pupils in the Primary sector.

2) to support the Primary Heads, both professionally and personally, in their work and to facilitate and encourage Primary Heads to work collaboratively.

3) to work with the LA to develop the services provided and to raise standards and develop a broad and extensive curriculum experience.
